It has been about a month and a half since I've been here and let me just say, it has been the most incredible time of my life. Let me just update you on how life has been.
I have three amazing roomates. One of them is from Pennsylvania, one is from Michigan, and one is from Canada. We all get along so well and our room is so full of laughter and fun all the time but also some seriously great conversations. God knew exactly the people I needed in my room and He gave them to me so praise Jesus.
Every morning, Monday through Friday, from 9-9:45 we start with morning worship. Before I came, I was really nervous about that for two reasons. First, the style of worship here is a little different than the kind I was used to at home. It's more spirit led in the sense that they come in with a little bit of a plan but often that plan changes and it goes wherever the spirit leads. But once again, God knows what He is doing and it has been so very incredible every morning to just start my day off that way and to be able to connect with Jesus in awesome ways. Secondly, I was nervous to have it five days a week every week. To me, that seemed like a little much. I loved worship and all, but that much. What if I get bored? What if I don't want to? What if I hate it? But, time and time again the Lord proves how wrong I am. Starting everyday off with morning worship has been absolutely amazing. Every single morning without fail, God shows Himself to me and just wows me with His presence.
Here is what a typical day looks like:
-Breakfast is from 7-7:45. I pretty much never go because that's just way to early for me. Then we have about an hour built in for a quiet time which pretty much can be what we want it to be. I haven't done a great job with that so far but God is working in my heart and working on that with me so yay!
-Then from 9-9:45 we have worship, which as I said above, is awesome and one of my favorite parts. On Wednesdays it is until 10 and we do intercession for anything from another country to a topic in America. After worship, there is about a half an hour for snacks and coffee. All we really do here ever is Jesus, food, and coffee.
-At 10:15 we begin class. Class has been above and beyond my expectations. Every week we have a different speaker on a different topic for the entire week, Monday-Friday. So far we have had teachings on Lordship, hearing the voice of God, freedom, forgiveness/Father Heart of God, and Evangelism. Each week, the Lord shows up and reveals Himself to us in crazy ways we were not even expecting.
-Class goes until 1 and then we have lunch. The food here: SO GOOD. We eat so well here and it makes me so happy. We've had everything from tacos, to curry, to enchiladas, to steak, and everything in between. God bless good food.
-Up until now, the schedule is always the same. After lunch is when it begins to vary. One day a week we have small groups, one day we have outreach preparation with our team, one day we have an hour and a half of prayer time and intercession as a school, and twice a week we have an elective. My elective is photography which is just way too much fun. I've been learning so much and we do some cool projects such as an engagement shoot, a studio shoot, a cross fit gym shoot, and I even got to shoot some sessions of a conference we had here a week ago.
-We also, twice a week have what are called CRs (Community Responsibilities). They are different for every person and can be anything from making dinner to cleaning bathrooms. I have breakfast preparation on Monday morning at 6:45am. That is the best and worst thing. All it means is I have to get all the breakfast stuff out (cereal, oatmeal, bagels, toast, etc.) and put it on a table and then clean it up at 7:45. It's super easy but so early. I like it thought because it allows me time to get a nice quiet time in on Monday mornings to start the week off right. I also have to clean our chapel, with five other people, on Wednesdays which only consists of sweeping and cleaning the bathrooms. So both are fairly simple and I don't mind doing them.
-Every Tuesday night we have a community night from 7-8:30 and this is just a time of worship and a message for us as well as anyone else in the community who wants to come. So if you're in the Orlando area, come and join us!
So yeah! I am having the time of my life here at YWAM Orlando. I've made so many amazing friends, I love my small group and leaders, and I fall in love with Jesus more and more everyday. If I've learned one thing from my first month here (which I've actually learned a whole lot more but anyways) it would be that God ALWAYS knows best. I was so scared coming here for the first day that I kept telling my parents we could fly back home I didn't really want to go anymore. But here I am, growing more than I ever thought I could and being transformed into someone I never thought I could be.
Stay tuned for an announcement in the coming weeks as to my next steps after I finish my DTS. So freaking excited for what the Lord has called me to do next.
